Abstract:

The reliquary of Haghpats “Sourp Nshan” is stored in number one fund of the department of ethnography of the History Museum of Armenia. It’s a double door silver box. In the center of it there is a cross decorated with precious stones. Around the cross there are eight holes. On the inner side of the doors the Crucifixion and the Descend from the Cross are engraved. On the outer side of the doors Noyan Tapan and the images of Seven Saints are depicted. On the other side of the reliquary there is an Armenian record. Inside of this reliquary the relic of the Holy Cross of Jesus Christ are kept, and in the eight holes the relics of the Noyan Tapan and Seven Saints are kept. The reliquary was made in Moscow in 1797 on demand of archbishop Hovsep Arghutyan. The name of the master is known; David Astvatsatryan. The reliquary was presented to Haghpat Monastery Cathedral of Surb Nshan. It was brought to the museum in 1941 through the Committee for the preservation of monuments.
Складень-реликварий «Сурб Ншан» из монастыря Ахпат хранится в Историческом музее Армении, в фонде № 1 этнографического отдела. Прямоугольный складень-реликварий изготовлен из серебра, с двойными дверцами. В центре крест, украшенный драгоценными камнями. Внутри частица Креста Господня. Вокруг креста восемь маленьких углублений для мощей. На дверях, с внутренней стороны выгравировано Распятие и Снятие с креста. На лицевой стороне изображены Ноев ковчег и семь святых. На обратной стороне надпись из 16 строк на армянском языке. Складень-реликварий был изготовлен в Москве в 1797 году по заказу архиепископа Овсепа Аргутяна. Известно имя мастера: Давид Аствацатрян. Реликварий был передан в дар церкви Сурб Ншан в Ахпате. В музей поступил в 1941 году, через Комитет охраны памятников.
