Abstract:

Khachatur Musheghyan, instructed personally by Hovsep Orbeli’, conducts the first serious scientific research dedicated to Ani's numismatic collection. The numismatist examines each coin one by one, compiling a complete list of coins as well as presenting the chronology and dynastic data of the origin of the coins of the collection, which included all samples of ancient and medieval coins found in and around medieval Ani. The work is particularly valuable in terms of drawing parallels between the medieval Dvin coins and those found in Ani. Owing to the list of Ani coins, it was found out that medieval Ani had a cultural layer of the ancient period as well. Among them the Byzantine overstruck copper coins, Arabic coins, especially the series of coins minted in Ani, are of a particular value. According to the numismatist's research, Ani was characterized by: A. Coins of the 10th-13th centuries of the Byzantine Empire B. Coins of the 11th-13th centuries of the Turkish-Seljuk dynasty C: Coins of the 13th-15th centuries of the Mongol rule. Khachatur Musheghyan’s research has found a great outlet abroad. In 2001, a large exhibition dedicated to the city of Ani took place in the Paris Pavillion des Arts. The study also found its rightful place in the Paris exhibition and received a tremendous response.
Хачатур Мушегян по личному поручению И. Орбели проводит первые серьезные научные исследования, посвященные нумизматической коллекции Ани. Нумизмат исследует каждую монету по отдельности, составляя полный список монет, а также представляя хронологию и династические данные монет коллекции, в которую вошли все образцы древних и средневековых монет, найденных в Ани и его окрестностях. В ходе изучения монет Ани выяснилось, что в этом городище есть и культурный слой античного периода. Среди монет анийской коллекции особую ценность представляют византийские перече- каненные медные монеты и арабские монеты, отчеканенные в Ани. Основные группи монет следующие: А. Монеты X-XIII веков Византийской империи Б. Монеты XI-XIII веков тюрко-сельджукской династии С. Монеты XIII-XV веков монгольского владычества. Работа особенно ценна с точки зрения проведения параллелей между средневековыми монетами Двина и монетами, найденными в Ани. Исследования Х. Мушегяна нашли большой отклик за рубежом. В 2001 году в Парижском Pavillon des Arts состоялась большая выставка, посвящённая городу Ани. Книга нашла свое достойное место на парижской выставке и получила огромный резонанс.
