Abstract:

In the history of the Armenian people, Ani has had invaluable significance as a unique example of medieval culture, as an important cradle for the formation and development of urban, secular, and ecclesiastical architecture and culture. This rare museum of medieval Armenian culture, long recognized by the scientific world, is currently outside the borders of Armenia but continues to be an integral part of the Armenian people's cultural heritage. Our work dedicated to Ani aims to shed as much light as possible on the cultural image of this site, which holds such significant importance in the historical past of the Armenian people, and on the work of Hovsep Orbeli, which shaped Orbeli as an archaeologist and showcased his exceptional abilities in organizing museum activities. Therefore, in this regard, we consider it very important to value the historical, cultural, and civilizational role of the ancient capital of the Armenians, to further study the Ani heritage, and to present it to the Armenian and global public. The goal of the study is to present Ani's archaeological heritage, the eminent scholar's activities during the Ani excavations, and the foundational work of the Ani museum, as one of the first Armenian museums, which laid the groundwork for the subsequent organization of museum activities in Armenia.
В истории армянского народа Ани имела неоценимое значение как особый образец средневековой культуры, как важная колыбель становления и развития городской, светской и церковной архитектуры, культуры. Этот редкий музей средневековой армянской культуры, давно признанный научным миром, в настоящее время нахо- дится за пределами Армении, но продолжает оставаться неотъемлемой частью культурного наследия армянского народа. Наша работа, посвященная Ани, направлена на максимальное освещение культурного образа этого очага, имеющего столь важное значение в историческом прошлом армянского народа, и деятельность Иосифа Орбели, сформировавшей его как археолога и где проявились его исключительные способности к организации музейной работы. Поэтому в этой связи мы считаем очень важным оценить историческую, культурную и цивилизационную роль древней армянской столицы, продолжить изучение Анийского наследия и представить его армянскому и мировому обществу. Цель исследования – представить археологическое наследие Ани, деятельность известного ученого во время экспедиции в Ани, фундаментальные работы музея Анийского древностей как одного из первых армянских музеев, что послужило основой для организации дальнейших музейных работ в Армении.
