В творчестве Барсега Каначяна (1885-1967), одного из крупнейших представителей музыкальной культуры армянской диаспоры, особое место занимает опера «Абеха» (1939), либретто которой композитор составил по исторической драме Левона Шанта «Старые боги» (1909). К сожалению, сегодня опера предана забвению. Автор поднимает вопрос о необходимости ее постановки в Ереване.Barsegh Kanachyan (1885 -1967) is one of the most distinguished west Armenian musical figures, who created the «ABEGHA» opera in 1939. This opera of Kanachyan is considered to be a unique composition. The libretto of the opera based on Levon Shant’s «Ancient Dieties» (1909) is a historical play. The opera is unfortunately disregarded today. However, Kanachyan thought the staging of the opera «ABEGHA» in the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiarian is all-important.
