This article deals with sixteen translations of Lermontov’s poem ,,The Sail’’ into Armenian. Some changes and additions of the translators are interflown with the text of the original. But more frequently they destroy the archytone and the idea of the poem. The space and temporal rectifications, for example, destroy the symbolic generalised depiction of ,,The Sail’’. Notwithstanding the multiplicity of the attempts, the worthy translation of Lermontov's masterpiece still stays unreachable.
