Abstract:

The article talks about the constant flow of foreign words and the work of Armenian linguists aimed at purifying the Armenian language from foreign elements. In this process, it is appropriate to use our old and obsolete words in a new way. When nationalizing well-known international terms in terminology, we must be careful not to distort the meaning of the term. The problem of Armenian equivalents of foreign words has always concerned Armenian linguists, and it is the daily work of linguists to clean the language from foreign elements. Scientific articles, works, dictionaries have been written and are being written nowadays regarding the Armenianization of such words. In preparing this article, the relevant literature was studied related to this field from the works of H. Acharyan to present day. Every day, in a developing world, new facts are realities emerge andenter our lives along with the foreign words. Using a native term instead of a foreign one can make speech more comprehensible, but inaccurately translated words are also a cause for misinterpretation. Attempts to translate everything, especially scientific terms into Armenian sometimes result in inaccurate linguistic equivalents, becoming a cause for misinterpretation. New realities enter our lives alongside foreign words. When adapting these words into Armenian, we can utilize our rich linguistic heritage to fully convey their meaning (e.g., sauce → թացան (tatsan), therapist → բուժագետ (buzhaget).
