Abstract:

Велик вклад известного историка Ваагна Татряна в изучении Геноцида армян. Применяя новейшие историко-сравнительные и междисциплинарные методы, Татрян впервые ввел в научный оборот многочисленные архивные документы. Основываясь на теоретические положения разных научных дисциплин, в своих трудах ученый выдвинул и проанализировал новые проблемы, связанные с Геноцидом армян, и результаты его исследований, опубликованных на различных научных и общественно-политических платформах, всегда оказывались в центре внимания научных кругов. С 1950 по 1991 год В.Татрян совмещал преподавательскую деятельность с научной. Его перу принадлежат 22 монографии, порядка 140 научных статей и многочисленные публикации на разных языках, посвященные Геноциду армян. Многие из статей и интервью В. Татряна, напе- чатанных в прессе армянской Диаспоры в 1960–1990-х годах, в данной статье впервые вводятся в научный оборот, раскрывая новые аспекты как его научно-общественной деятельности, так и его человеческого образа. В предложенной ученым концепции «парадигмы геноцида» разграничиваются две стадии намерения: «предварительная» и «завершающая», которые тесно связаны между собой. Изучив причины и последствия Геноцида армян, В. Татрян отвергает тезис о «предательском» отношении армян к Османской империи, разоблачает преступную сущность турецких властей, а также анализирует позиции европейских государств в отношении Армянского вопроса.
Prominent historian Vahagn Dadryan’s contribution to the study of the Armenian Genocide is highly valuable. Applying the latest historicalcomparative and interdisciplinary methods, Dadryan discovered and introduced numerous archival documents into scientific circulation. Proceeding from theoretical statements put forward by different scientific disciplines, the scholar proposed and analyzed new problems and aspects of the Armenian Genocide, and the results of his investigations published on various academic and sociopolitical platforms, have always attracted the attention of academic circles. From 1950 through 1991, Vahagn Dadryan’s teaching and research activities have been combined, and he authored 22 monographs, around 140 articles and numerous publications in different languages dedicated to the problem of the Armenian Genocide. Many of his articles and interviews, published in the press of the Armenian Diaspora in the 1960s-1990s, have served as valuable sources for the present article, in the meantime revealing not only new aspects of his scholarly and social activities, but also his image of a human figure. In his concept of the “paradigm of Genocide”, two phases of intent – the “preliminary” and the “finalizing”, are distinguished and their interconnection is underscored. Having studied the causes and consequences of the Genocide, Vahagn Dadryan denies the thesis about Armenians’ “treacherous” attitude towards the Ottoman Government, unmasks the criminal nature of the Turkish powers, analyzes the positions taken by the European states with regard to the Armenian Cause.
