Abstract:

During the 105-year activity of the History Museum of Armenia, the 5th department occupies a special place. It was called by different names in different years - the department of revolution, the Patriotic War, the history of the new and Soviet periods, new and newest history. In 1928, the department was closed, and in 1932 it was reopened and operated as a separate museum of the revolution until March 1991. During the years of the Third Republic of Armenia, the Museum of the Revolution joined the History Museum of Armenia and became the department of the modern history period, and a little later - it became the department of Modern and Contemporary History. The issue of joining the two museums was raised back in 1960 by the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR Viktor Hambartsumyan, but then it was removed from the agenda for obvious reasons. The years of Perestroika contributed to the joining process. The new department includes the history of the Armenian people from the second half of the 17th century up to the present day.
В период 105-летней деятельности Музея Истории Армении своё особое место занимает 5-й отдел, который в разные годы именовался по разному – отдел революции, отечественной войны, истории нового и советсокого периода, новой и новейшей истории. В 1928 г. отдел был закрыт, а в 1932 г. снова открылся и действовал как отдельный музей революции до марта 1991 г. В годы третьей республики Армении музей революции присоединился с Музеем Истории Армении и стал отделом периода новейшей истории, а чуть позже – стал отделом новой и новейшей истории. Вопрос объединения двух музеев был поднят ещё в 1960 г. президентом Академии наук Армянской ССР Виктором Амбарцумяном, однако тогда этот вопрос был снят с повестки по понятным причинам. Годы перестройки поспособствовали процессу объединения. Новый отдел включает в себе историю армянского народа со второй половины 17-го века до наших дней.
