Abstract:

The dissemination of Catholicism among Armenian people, outlined from 13th Century was a dangerous phenomenon for a nation devoid of State. In consequence of the intensified missionary activities in Safavid Iran in sixteenthseventeenth centuries and some other auspicious conditions the number of Catholic Armenians became more and more, bringing a split in the Armenian population. The majority of Armenian Gregorian clergy, especially in New Jugha, carried on tireless struggle against Catholic propaganda.
