Անկախության վերականգնման գործընթացը, Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի ինքնորոշման խնդրի հետ համատեղ առաջին լուրջ քաղաքական հիմնախնդիրն էր, որին բախվեցին հայաստանյան կուսակցությունները: Հոդվածում դիտարկվում է Հայաստանում բազմակուսակցական համակարգի ձևավորումն այդ գործընթացի համատեքստում: Դրանում ներգրավված հայաստանյան կուսակցությունների սկզբունքային տարակարծությունների առաջին լուրջ դրսևորումը կապված էր թե' Հայաստանի անկախության վերականգնման գործընթացի ուղու, թե' դրա ժամկետների, թե' միջոցների ընտրության հետ: Անվերապահորեն ձգտելով անկախությանը` գործընթացն առաջ տանելու համար Հայաստանի կուսակցությունները հակոտնյա ճանապարհային քարտեզներ էին առաջարկում: Եվ այդ տարակարծություններից էլ ծնվում էր միջկուսակցական գաղափարական մի բանավեճ, որը քննելու խնդիր է իր առաջ դնում սույն հոդվածը` ներկայացնելով անկախության նկատմամբ կուսակցությունների մոտեցումները: Անկախության գործընթացում կուսակցությունների դերի ու նրանց միջև ընթացած պայքարի բացահայտման հիմնախնդիրը կարևորվում է ինչպես Երրորդ Հանրապետության պատմության ուսումնասիրության, այնպես էլ Հայաստանում բազմակուսակցական համակարգի ձևավորման տեսնակյունից: Անկախության հանրաքվեի մոտենալուն զուգահեռ հայաստանյան քաղաքական ուժերի մոտեցումները բյուրեղացան` ձգտելով միմյանց, և, ի վերջո, սեպտեմբերի 21-ի անկախության հանրաքվեին ընդառաջ բոլոր կուսակցությունները եկան ընդհանուր հայտարարի:
The process of the restoration of independence along with NagornoKarabakh's self-determination issue was the first major political problem the Armenian political parties faced. The article examines the formation of a multiparty system in Armenia in the context of that process. Armenian political parties took their part in the process while having principle disagreements concerning the alternatives of road, timeline and means of achieving the independence. Definitely accepting the necessity of independence, Armenian political parties were suggesting completely different roadmaps of handling the process. Simultaneously, these disagreements led to inter-party ideological debate. Thus, this article has an objective to discuss the debate by presenting comprehensive attitude of parties towards independence. It is important to identify the role of political parties and the fight between them in the process of independence in terms of studying the history of the Third Republic and the formation of a multiparty system in Armenia. With the approaching referendum on independence, the stances of the Armenian political forces were crystallized and finally, on the eve of the referendum, all Armenian political parties came to an agreement.
