Abstract:

Preserving culturally significant and rare literature remains a cornerstone mission for the National Library of Armenia. This essential endeavor is accomplished not solely through the fundkeeping departments, but also through the dedicated and meticulous efforts of restorers. Our task is to be consistent with the preservation of the library's funds, to restore and fix the book, document, literary unit of cultural value in such a way as to preserve its integrity and the initial natural appearance corresponding to the period of its publication, because literature is our history and we must pass it on to future generations. The years of experience and current, modern challenges emphasize the importance of staying connected with professional developments. Through active participation in numerous international events on restoration, both physical and virtual, we stay informed about the latest innovations in the restoration field. This engagement further refines our specialization, enriches our expertise, and enhances our skill set. The preservation efforts of the National Library of Armenia’s restorers have safeguarded thousands of books, magazines, rare documents, notes, and newspapers. Their dedication and passion drive their ongoing work, as they eagerly anticipate the realization of a restoration center tailored to the needs of the National Library in the near future.
