Abstract:

The article is dedicated to the 280th anniversary of the outstanding Armenian poet Sayat- Nova (Haroutun Sayadyan, 1722-1795). The publication of Sayat-Nova's collection of verses "Daftar" in 1852 by G.Hakhverdian breathed a new life into his works. Jakov Polonski is the first Russian poet who appreciated highly the works of Sayat-Nova in early 50s of XIX c. His poetry drew much attention already at the beginning of XX c. His works are translated by V. Brusov, M. Lozinski, S. Shervinski, K. Lipskerov, A. Tarkovski and other. Vera Zvjagintseva is among those translators of his poetry who contributed much to the popularization of the poetic inheritance of gussan in russian reading circles. Sayat-Nova's heritage stood the test of time successfully, and he’s become a favourite of the whole humanity.
