Abstract:

Григор Зограп – один из корифеев западноармянской интеллигенции конца XIX – начала XX в. Обеспокоенность тяжелым положением западных армян и будущим Армении подтолкнула его к общественной и политической деятельности с юных лет. Высокая народная репутация дала возможность Зограбу в 1908–1914 гг. трижды подряд избираться депутатом младотурецкого парламента. Его политическая деятельность является ярким примером непоколебимой самоотверженности и политического мужества в служении родному народу, что заслуживает восхищения и благодарности. Летом и осенью 1913 г., когда вопрос об армянских реформах был предметом конфликта между Антантой и Тройственным союзом, он стал главным посланником Армянского Константинопольского патриархата, ведя переговоры с посольствами России и Германии. В этих переговорах деятельность Зограпа держалась в секрете, поскольку ведение переговоров с иностранными дипломатическими представительствами не исходило из его статуса члена османского парламента. Роль главного переговорщика Г. Зограп выполнял с максимальной ответственностью, добросовестностью и конфиденциальностью. В этих переговорах он продемонс- трировал навыки дипломатической работы, всегда стараясь избегать тупиковых ситуаций и принимать компромиссные варианты.
Grigor Zohrap is one of the luminaries of the Western Armenian intelligentsia of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The concern for the plight of the Western Armenian people and the future of Armenia pushed him to social and political activities from a very young age. The high public reputation made it possible for Zohrap to be elected a deputy of the Young Turk Parliament for three times in a row, from 1908 to 1914. His political activity is a vivid example of serving his native people with unwavering dedication and political courage, which deserves admiration and gratitude. In the summer and autumn of 1913, when the issue of Armenian reforms was a subject of conflict between the Entente and the Triple Alliance, he became the chief envoy of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople who negotiated with the Russian and German embassies. In these negotiations, Zograp's activities were kept in secret, since negotiating with foreign diplomatic missions did not proceed from his status as a member of the Ottoman Parliament. G. Zohrap performed the role of the chief negotiator with maximum responsibility, integrity and confidentiality. In those negotiations, G. Zohrap demonstrated diplomatic skills, always trying to avoid deadlocks and accept compromise options.
