In the feature article "Print or Digital?" the author, Nerses Hayrapetyan, shares his views on the differences between reading online and reading printed material. He discusses the role libraries, books, and reading in general play in the modern age. What perspectives will we have of traditional libraries in the future? Will libraries disappear or will they be forced to change due to the battle between print and digital reading? What effect will e-books have on the reading environment? The author sees reading print material and reading on electronic devices as two different and parallel methods of acquiring information. He believes that hard copies won’t decrease in popularity any time soon and for at least another decade e-books will be forced to coexist with printed books. However, in order to compete and set themselves up for success in the future, libraries must begin changing their strategy to compete with new technologies.
