В конце XIX ‒ начале XX в. жизненно важной для армянского народа задачей было освобождение от турецкого господства. На этом историческом отрезке революционно настроенное поколение встало на борьбу с турецкой тиранией. Одним из ярких представителей этой революционной когорты был общественно-политический и партийный деятель, писатель, переводчик и педагог Мигран Таматян. Против османской деспотии М. Таматян боролся методами пропагандистской и вооруженной борьбы. Решению вопроса освобождения армянского народа от турецкого господства и сохранению армянской идентичности способствовали и публицистические статьи Таматяна, изданные в египетской армяноязычной газете «Пюник». At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries the supreme task of the Armenian people was to be liberated from the Turkish dominance. In that historical period the generation, that was predisposed to revolution initiated a fight against the Turkish tyranny. One of the outstanding representatives of the revolutionary cohort was a public, political and party figure Mihran Tamatyan. Resorting to propaganda or armed struggle, Mihran Tamatyan fought against the Turkish despotism. Tamatyan's publicistic articles in the Egyptian-Armenian “Pyunik” newspaper contributed greatly to resolving the issue of the Armenians’ liberation from Turkey’s tyranny and preservation of the Armenian identity.
