Концепция устойчивого развития, появившаяся в начале 70-х годов прошлого века, стала одной из самых быстро развивающихся и нашедших широкое применение теорий. Несмотря на это, до сих пор не существует универсального научного определения понятия устойчивого развития и продолжаются научные споры как относительно перевода термина «Sustainable Development», так и толкования его содержания. В работе представлены различные подходы к термину и определению понятия «устойчивое развитие». В результате анализа различных взглядов предложено новое определение устойчивого развития, в основе которого лежит модель слабой устойчивости экономики Армении. From the beginning of the 1970s of the last century, the concept of the sustainable development has become one of the most rapidly developing and applied theory. However, till now there is no precise and common academic definition of sustainable development and currently the arguments on both the translation of the term “Sustainable Development” and the interpretations regarding its meaning are still going on. The article presents different approaches to the term and definition of sustainable development. Based on the results of analysis of different views the author proposes a new definition of sustainable development that reflects the weak sustainability model of the Armenian economy.
