Одна из важнейших областей армянской культуры–архитектура, на протяжении веков несла огромные потери от вторгавшихся в Армению чужеземцев, в первую очередь, от турок, разрушивших в основном монастыри и церкви, многие из которых являлись шедеврами общехристианского искусства. Этот процесс достиг своей кульминации после Геноцида армянского народа, осуществленного в 1915 г. в Западной Армении властями Турции. One of the most important domains of Armenian culture – architecture, in the course of centuries suffered mostly from the foreign conquerors invading Armenia. The greatest injuries were inflicted by the Turks, who demolished the monasteries and churches of the country, many of which were masterpieces of the whole Christian culture. This process culminated after the Genocide of the Armenians in Western Armenia in 1915 by the Turkish authorities.
