Abstract:

The paper attempts to reveal the means of actualization of the concept “ fear” in G. W. Bush and B. Obama’s famous speeches. Linguistic analysis of the journalists has shown that B. Obama is not a peace supporter at all for what he was awarded a Nobel Prize. Due to semantic/cognitive review of press analysis, it becomes clear that B. Obama is considered a supporter of military actions. The subjective modality of the journalists makes the readers feel an uncertainty and fear towards the president’s policy.
