Abstract:

In the year 49 the King of Kings Orodes in negotiations with Pompey claimed the Syria as concession for his mililary assistance. After the departure of Roman troops from Syria in the second half of 49 and during the a!l 48. Orodes, in spite of his pretentions on Syria. abstained from its annection. The causcs of Orodes neutrality consist in threatening attitude of Artavasdes, King of Armenia, who renovated by this time his alliance wilh Rome - Pompey's party and adopted the title of King of Kings (teslifyed on his coinage just in 49 and 48 years).
