Abstract:

In this article for the first time is systematized the history of the Latin-script Turkish–Armenian (Western and Eastern Armenian) and Armenian (Western and Eastern Armenian)–Latin-script Turkish lexicography created over the past century based on the Armenian lexicographical traditions of the Ottoman period. Among these dictionaries, the works of Constantinopolitan Armenian economist, lexicographer and community figure Edward Govan (1927-2021) stand out: the Latin-script Turkish–Armenian-script Western Armenian–Latin-script Western Armenian dictionary of commerce and economic terms (1996), the Latinscript Turkish–Armenian-script Western Armenian–Latin-script Western Armenian dictionary (2016) and the Latin-script Western Armenian– Armenian-script Western Armenian–Latin-script Turkish dictionary (2021). These dictionaries are distinguished by their rich vocabulary, accessiblescientific language and indirect references to contemporary issues of the Constantinople Armenian community. It should be noted that the introduction of the Latin-script Western Armenian determined by historical circumstances, is conditioned less to the global processes of Latinization of writing systems and more to the ramifications of state ideological policy. In this context the Latin-more precisely Turkish transliteration of the Western Armenian language has emerged against the backdrop of the hegemonic status of the Turkish language.
В работе впервые систематизируется история латинописьменных турецко-армянских (западноармянский и восточноармянский) и латинописьменных армяно-турецких (западноармянский и восточноармянский) словарей, созданных на протяжении последнего столетия, на основе армянских лексикографических традиций османского периода. Особое место в этом ряду занимают труды константинопольского армянского экономиста, лексикографа и обществен- ного деятеля Эдварда Гована (1927-2021): словарь торгово-экономических терминов на латинописьменном турецком - армянописьменном западноармянском - латинописьменном западноармянском (1996), словарь на латинописьменном турецком - армянописьменном западно-армянском - латинописьменном западноармянском (2016), а также словарь на латинописьменном западноармянском - армянописьменном западноармянском - латинописьменно турецком (2021). Указанные словари отличаются богатством словарного состава, доступным научно-популярным языком и косвенными отсылками к актуальным проблемам армянской общины Стамбула. В частности, отмечено в них по велению времени о внедрении латинописьменного западноармянского языка, обусловленного не столько глобальными процессами латинизации письменных систем, сколько как следствие государственной идеологической политики, в рамках которой латинская, а точнее – турецкая транслитерация западноармянского языка формируется на фоне доминирующего положения турецкого языка.
