Основные правила употребления знаков препинания, восходящих к V в., были сформулированы в XII—XIII вв., с тех пор претерпев лишь незначительные изменения. Из трех возможных подходов к роли этих знаков в языке—семантического, синтаксического и фонетического—в настоящее, время преобладает синтаксический.The basic rules of punctuation marks application ascenting from the V c.. were formed in XII—XIIIcc., since then undergoning slight changes. From three possible approaches to the role of these marks in the language—semantic, syntax and phonetic—at present syntax predominates.
