Abstract:

In 1981-82 USA Administration believing that the ceasc-fire belween the PLO and Israel was bound to collapse, saw the invasion as an opportunity both to bring about a Solution to the Lebanese crises and perhaps even to bcgin a new effort at resolving the Arab-Israeli dispute- withdrawal of all foreign forces-the Syrians, the PLO and Israelis and the establishment of a strong central government.
