Abstract:

The appearance of the first scientific societies in the Ottoman Empire was connected with the reform movement named Tanzimat. Reforms covered socialeconomic sphere, as well as the field of culture and education. On the processes of development in the field of culture and education caused by the interior problems at the same time influenced the penetration of westem ideas. That was evoked by the rise of international relations of the Empire and the increasing penetration of the westem capital in the Turkish economy.
