Abstract:

In 1967 I.M.Diakonov had published cuneiform tablets from Karmir blur (unearlhcd in 1957). The seal-impression on one of them he read - [m] E - [ r J i - mc-n[a-nje mA[r (??) - ... ]. Up-to-dale Ihis was considered as the only and definitive evidence in favour of the existence of the king Erimena (king Rusa's father). However, the carcful study of the cuneiform tablet (now in the State Historical Museum of Armenia, N 2783-86) show that the rcading of this sealimprcssion was incorrect. The scal-impression contains - [m] E-[r]i-me-n[a], and incomplete repetition of the sequel - ri-me. In lower line it is possible to read only the syllable - e. One may assume that the author of the cuneiform tablet was not Erimena, bul Erimena's son Rusa, from whom currently we have а number of other inscriptions.
