Abstract:

Gas-discharge acoustoplasma of a CO2 laser has been investigated in the band of the First Positive System of nitrogen (0.57-0.68 um). A specially designed discharge tube, spectrometer and a computer spectrograph were used. The dependence of modulation depth of the optical radiation power on the pressure is experimentally obtained. It is shown that the modulation depth increases with gas pressure increasing. Variable component of the optical radiation has a good sinusoidal form, regardless of the shape of discharge current. In acoustoplasma discharge, when the depth of modulation current at 30 Hz is 70%, modulation depth of the optical radiation is 10%. The dynamic dependence of variable component of the optical radiation intensity on the voltage change of the discharge tube during the modulation period was measured. It is also obtained that in acoustoplasma, even at low-frequency modulation, change of light intensity depends stronger on the voltage applied to the tube (i.e., the electron energy) than on the electron density
