В своем монументальном труде Мовсес Хоренаци, в основном, отдавал предпочтение греческим источникам. Отсюда и берет начало «мидийская» версия о падении Ассирийского государства. Но под рукой М. Хоренаци находились и другие источники, согласно которым падение Ассирии рассматривалось с точки зрения Вавилона. По М. Хоренаци, первого армянского царя короновал не Набопаласар или Навуходоносор, а мидиец «Варбакес»-Киаксар. А у Себеоса мы встречаем только «вавилонский» вариант, где приведенные выше события привязываются к Вавилону. In his monumental work Movses Khorenatsi mainly preferred Greek sources. It is here that the “Median” version of the fall of the Assyrian state originates from. Nevertheless, M. Khorenatsi obviously possessed with other sources, too, according to which the fall of Assyria was considered from the point of view of Babylon. Under the hand of M. Khorenatsi there were two versions according to which the first Armenian king was crowned not by Nabopalassar or Nebuchadnezzar, but by the Median king “Varbakes”– Cyaxares. And in the study of Sebeos we meet only the “Babylonian” version, where the abovementioned events are bound to Babylonia.
