Освободительная борьба армянского народа против турецкого ига и Геноцнд армян в Османской империи являются одними из основных тем научного наследия академика М. Г. Нерсисяна. Ученый подвергнул глубокому и всестороннему анализу идеологии армян, подчеркнув концепцию русской ориентации армянского народа, разоблачал фальсификации турецких и некоторых иных историков в вопросах положения западных армян и политики геноцида турецкого правительства в отношении армян, в период правления Абдул Гамида II и при млаготурках. The movement for freedom of the Armenian people against the Turkish yoke and the Genocide of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire is one of the main components of the academician M. G. Nerstsyan's historical inheritance. Deeply and comprehensively analysing the leading trends of the movement for freedom and its ideology, the Scholar worked out a proposed and substantiated concept of the movement tor freedom. In his works M. G. Nersisyan highly appreciated the activities of the democratic oriented members of that movement, and enriched the concept of the Russian orientation of Armenians.
