Abstract:

1. Материалы по истории математики, ставшие к настоящему времени известными, с достоверностью показывают, что старейшим, после арабского, переводом Геометрии Эвклида является армянский. В Армении она переведена в 1051 году непосредственно с греческого текста, а в Западной Европе в 1120 году с арабского языка на латинский. 2. Геометрия Эвклида в Западной Европе переведена с греческого текста в 1533 году, 482 годами позже, чем в Армении. 3. Армянский перевод Геометрии Эвклида с греческого текста, являющийся древнейшим, имеет большое значение для общей истории матаматики. 1. The up to date materials on the history of mathematics known to us show obviosly, that after Arabians the oldest translation of the Geometry of Euklid was made into armenian language. In Armenia the translation was made by Gregory Magistros in 1051 immediately from the Greek text, while in Western Europe, it was translated from Arabian text into latin language in 1120. 2. In Western Europe the translation of Euklide from the Greek text was made in 1533. i. e. 482 years later than in Armenia. 3. The Armenian translation of Euklid from the Greek text being the oldest, has a great significance for the general history of mathematics.
