Abstract:
In the modern era of the formation of a new world order, linguocultural studies gain fresh importance. In creating the linguistic picture of the world, a nation's vital activity is best manifested through vocabulary usage, with phytonyms (plant names) being an inseparable part of it. Through the metaphorization of phytonyms, people are described and characterized based on comparative links between the shared characteristics of plants and humans.
Using descriptive and comparative methods, the semantic scopes of metaphorized phytonyms in modern literary Armenian, the Artsakh dialect, and English are presented and classified according to accepted categories. Metaphorized phytonyms are distributed into 10 categories: general names, trees and shrubs, herbs and flowers, vegetables, fungi, lower plants, plant parts, fruits and berries, plant clusters, and substances contained within plants.
