The article conducts a semantic functional analysis of Armenian words fe aturing the final component « երգ » . First, based on the study of several dictionaries and professional sources, 122 corresponding lexical units were identified. Attention was also paid to the lexicographical evidence of other formations derived from these word stems, noting that these stems could theoretically also function as independent lexical units. The paper also addresses phraseological and phrasal terms that can be replaced by compound words containing the final component « երգ » . It is concluded that t hese constitute potential words, which testifies to the high vitality of the root « երգ ». Furthermore, the issue of polysemy of the words in question is examined, highlighting the capacity of certain lexical units to simultaneous ly denote various types of songs or literary works. Units exhibiting synonymous relations were identified. It was observed that even the most comprehensive dictionary of synonyms does not include all synonyms, and certain omissions and errors exist. Additi onally, it was established t hat some units are specific to or primarily characteristic of one of the two branches of literary Armenian either Eastern Armenian or Western Armenian. Ultimately, all units are classified into 18 semantic groups, such as: 1. labor songs, 2. songs of pra ise, glory, and bl essing, 3. ecclesiastical ritual songs, etc.
