Vocabulary instruction plays a foundational role in school language education, serving as a primary driver for developing students' cognitive abilities, communication skills, and expressive fluency. However, teaching lexicology in contemporary secondary schools encounters significant challenges, including student disengagement from traditional reading, the influence of informal digital communication, and an overemphasis on theoretical memorization rather than practical application.
This article examines the primary methodological and pedagogical obstacles faced by Armenian language educators today and proposes systematic solutions to enhance vocabulary acquisition. Key strategies discussed include the integration of interactive learning frameworks, thematic word mapping, digital tools, language corpora, and text based contextual learning By shifting from passive memorization to active communicative exercises, educators can successfully foster semantic awareness, stylistic precision, and lifelong language proficiency among students.
