Почему Шекспир не раскрыл личность Горацио в своей пьесе, как это сделал 300 лет назад Данте Алигьери в “Божественной комедии”, введя в неё образ римского поэта Вергилия. Можно предположить, что Шекспир, избрав в качестве прототипа Горацио образ римского поэта I в. до н.э. Квинта Горация Флакка, в силу определенных причин скрыл этот факт. В ряду этих причин могли быть особенности условного театра XVI в., строжайшая цензура в пуританской Англии и недобросовестная “работа” тайных переписчиков пьес, посредством которых “Гамлет”, возможно, впервые попал к издателям. Why didn’t Shakespeare reveal the identity of Horatio in his play, as it did Dante Alighieri in his “Divine Comedy” 300 years ago, entering into it a character of Roman poet Virgil? It may be assumed that, Shakespeare, choosing the character of Roman poet of the 1st century AD Quintus Horatius Flaccus as a prototype, has hidden that fact for certain reasons. Among those reasons could be the features of theatre of XVI century, the strictest censorship in Puritan England and unscrupulous “work” of secret play copiers, by virtue of who “Hamlet” for the first time, probably fall into the hands of publishers.
