Abstract:
In the 1890s, the Western Armenians were scattered across the world as a result of the massacres carried out by Abdul Hamid. Those who escaped the massacres initially sought refuge in the Caucasus region. Despite the difficulties and obstacles imposed by the authorities, the Murch periodical attempted to provide information on Western Armenian refugees, how they could be helped, and how they could return to their homeland. This article summarises the newspaper’s coverage of refugees who found shelter in Eastern Armenia. We have included tables in the article to visually present the number of refugees in the Yerevan province.
