The monograph is devoted to the history of the Tavush District during 1600–1725, with particular emphasis on historical and demographic aspects. Drawing on the1727 Extensive Defter of the Ganja-Karabakh Eyalet, it presents the settlement patternsof Armenian and Turkic communities in the district and neighbouring territories. Thevillages of Tavush and their tax-paying Armenian inhabitants are listed by name,alongside an account of the district’s economic conditions. The study also reflects on thehistory of the local Armenian principality (melikdom) and its spiritual and cultural life.This work is intended for historians and all those with an interest in Armenian history.
