Abstract:
Genre classification serves as an important methodol ogical foundation for analyzing various types of communicative texts. Genres are defi ned according to the purpose of communication, structure, methods of presenting information, and linguistic -stylistic features. Conventionally, genres can be divided into informational, analytical, and literary -journalistic types, including the article, reportage, interview, broadcast, essay, and others. Each genre forms its own distinctive style, expressed through the choice of linguistic means, expressive devices, and structural organization, which are examined in detail in this paper. The broadcast, for example, as a hybrid format, may combine informational and persuasive elements while also preserving the individual style of the presenter, while a media article is characterized by a formulaic structure, evidence -based presentation, and a relatively neutral style. On the other hand, the interview has a dialogical nature and requires lively, conversational elements. Advertising is stylistically the most expressive, based on pronounced evaluative language, emotional expressions, and often employing wordplay and condensed structures. The interaction and mutual influence of genre and style are particularly evident on modern media platforms (electronic press, social media communication, etc.), where information is often presented according to the objective of persuasion or entertainment. Thus, the genre diversity of mass communication predetermines stylistic multilayeredness. More broadly, the interrelation between genre and style is a key factor not only in the construction of a text but also in shaping its perception and impact. This calls for a comprehensive study from a communicative perspective.
