In the history of medieval Armenian Church architecture, the architectural school of Syunik has a truly honorable place with its talented architects, master builders and khachkar masters. Representatives of this architectural school left an immortal memory in the monastery of medieval Armenian Church architecture and raised the Armenian Church architecture to a new level. In 1991, later in the newly independent Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Church architecture experienced a Revival, and a new period of growth. Modern Armenian architects and master builders now continue the best traditions of the medieval Armenian Church architecture applying new technologies, solutions and ideas in the building of new churches, including the churches of the Syunik region. In this article we present the newly built churches and chapels of the Syunik region of Armenia (St. Mesrop Mashtots Church in Kapan, St. Gayane Church in Davit Bek, St. Sargis Church in Kashuni, St. Grigor Tatevatsi Church in Shinuhayr, St. Astvatsatsin Church in Shaki, St. Hripsime Church in Tolors, St. Stepanos Church in Darbas, St. Hovhannes Mkrtich Chapel in Chakaten, St. Martiros Chapel in Tolors). In the article, we present the architectural forms of the above-mentioned churches and chapels, the history of construction and other related issues.
