One of the most interesting and richest part of the cultural heritage of Artsakh is embroidery. However, it has not been completely examined by art critics. Though, Serik Davtyan, one of the best specialists in Armenian weaving, briefly touched on Artsakh embroidery in his works. The researcher was exploring the art of Artsakh embroidery within Syunik embroidery school, focusing particularly on Artsakh towels. They differ from the embroidered towels of other Armenian schools by their material, techniques, and decorative elements. However, the author did not notice the needlework of a different nature and significance, which were an integral part of the daily life and culture of the people of Artsakh. In regard especially to the rugs dating back to the 18th – 19th centuries, the composition of which is formed by images typical of Artsakh dragon carpets. This article aims to present Artsakh embroidery as a phenomenon that has its description and stands out in the Armenian embroidery culture.
Одной из самых интересных и содержательных составляющих культурного наследия Арцаха является вышивка. Ни с этнологического, ни с искусствоведческого аспектов она пока еще всесторонне не исследована. Тему арцахской вышивки в своих работах коснулась одна из лучших специалистов по художественному ткачеству С. Давтян. Исследователь рассматривала ее в рамках Сюникской школы вышивки, уделив при этом особое внимание арцахским полотенцам. Они отличаются от вышитых полотенец других армянских школ вышивки своим материалом, техникой исполнения и орнаментацией. Однако, автор не обратил внимание на вышитые другие изделия различного назначения, которые были неотъемлемой частью повседневной жизни и культуры армян Арцаха. Это, в частности, покрывала 18 – 19-ых веков, в вышивке которых использованы мотивы местных ковров, в частности, так называемых драконовых ковров. В данной статье мы попытались представить арцахскую вышивку как явление, имеющее собственные неповторимые черты и занимающее отдельное место в культуре армянской вышивки.
