Abstract:

Being born in 1869 in Kütahya (Kutina), Western Anatolia, Soghomon Soghomonyan (later Komitas Vardapet) grew up speaking Turkish and received Armenian education in the Mother See of Holy Ejmiatsin. In this article, Komitas’ life and art is placed in the contexts of the historical era between tradition and modernity on the one hand and of the conditions of Armenian life in the Ottoman Empire on the other hand. The article further discusses the various perceptions of Komitas among Armenians and non–Armenians and the various fields and forms of his legacy.
Ծնված լինելով 1869–ին Արևմտյան Անատոլիայի Քյոթահիա (Կուտինա) քաղաքում` Սողոմոն Սողոմոնյանը (հետագայում՝ Կոմիտաս Վարդապետ) հասակ էր առել որպես թրքախոս և հայկական կրթություն էր ստացել Հայոց եկեղեցու աթոռանիստ Էջմիածնում: Հոդվածում Կոմիտասի կյանքն ու ստեղծագործությունը քննարկվում են ավանդականը ժամանակակցին կամրջող պատմական փուլում և անդրադարձ է կատարվում հայերի կյանքի նախադրյալներին ու պայմաններին Օսմանյան կայսրությունում: Առանձնահատուկ լուսաբանման է արժանանում Կոմիտասի ընկալումը հայերի և ոչ հայերի կողմից, ինչպես նաև մեկնաբանվում են նրա ժառանգության տարբեր բնագավառները ։
