Abstract:

Церквь Св. Богоматери XVII в. в Цгна – один из значительных памятников армянского позднесредневекового искусства – является частью богатого историко-культурного наследия Нахичевана. Анализ скульптур показывает иконографические параллели и прототипы в западноевропейском искусстве, выявляет связь между колокольней и скульптурным убранством церкви, а также иконографическое сходство между колокольней церкви Св. Богоматери в Цгна и колокольней Кафедрального собора в Эчмиадзине. The Holy Mother of God Church of the 17th of Tsghna – one of the significant monuments of the Armenian Late Medieval art, is a part of the rich historical-cultural heritage of Nakhijevan. It was built in the north-eastern region of Tsghna village of Goghtan canton in Vaspurakan province of historical Armenia. At present, the village is located in Ordubad region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 25 km to the north-west from Ordubad town and corresponds to the modern village of Chananab. The analysis of the sculptures points out the iconographic parallels and prototypes in the Western European art, reveals the link between the belfry and the sculpural decoration of the church, as well as an iconographic resemblance between the Holy Mother of God Church in Tsghna and the belfry of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral.
