Նուռն ավանդաբար առանձնահատուկ տեղ է զբաղեցնում հայկական կերպարվեստում և, ընդհանրապես, հայ մշակույթում: Զարմանալի է այն փաստը, որ ըստ հնաբուսաբանական տվյալների, շատ դարերից բոլորովին հայտնի չեն նռան պատկերներ հայկական մշակութային կոթողներում. քրիստոնեության առաջին դարերում (IV դ. սկիզբ – VII դ. կեսեր, այսինքն` Զվարթնոցի տաճարից առաջ) նուռը դուրս է մնում բուսամոտիվների շարքից: Մինչդեռ այդ նույն դարերում այն բազմիցս պատկերվել է Հայաստանի հարևան երկրներում (Պարսկաստան, Բյուզանդիա): Pomegranate traditionally occupies quite special place in the Armenian fine arts and in Armenian culture in general. So much astonishing that, according to archeo-botanical data, from many centuries there is no image of pomegranate known to us in the Armenian cultural monuments – in the first centuries of Christianity in Armenia (beginning of the 4th – middle of the 7th centuries, i. e. before building the Zvartnots temple), it completely drops out from the list of plant ornaments. Meanwhile, in the same centuries, in the neighboring to Armenia countries (Byzantium, Persia) there are plenty of images of the pomegranate.
