In Stevenson’s works the main hero is the villain ‘self’ or ‘alter ego while in the writings of Borges, the alter egos are not in conflict. They bond with each other and recognize one another. Consequently, Borges does not presume an imposed struggle between the alter egos while in Stevenson’s works the splitting itself of the ‘evil’ self becomes the alter ego and thus the breakup from the person.
