The article touches upon the lingual means of expressing space and spatial relations in English, namely the spatial verbs and nouns. Alongside with the verbs stand, s it and (ye, which are considered to be the most commonly used spatial verbs as they express the position of the objects in space, the author singles out some verbs which express space independently from their combinability, concluding that there are verbs the semantic structure of which involves the meaning of the space in which the action goes on (float, skate, glide , etc.).
