This article dwells on the study of the concept “freedom” in English and Armenian. The contrastive analysis of phraseological units reveals not only common, but also some specific features, which are determined by national (English and Armenian) language creativity mechanisms. In English the concept under study is associated mainly with freedom from “social and individual constraints”, whereas, in Armenian the concept in question is related to “moral, psychological freedom” in particular.
