 abstract={В статье рассматривается проблема поиска национальной идентичности в мемуарах армянского писателя Питера Балакяна, создавшего произведения на иностранном языке, «Черный пес судьбы». Исследование проводилось в следующих направлениях: американская среда и армянская наследственная память: в центре столкновения внешнего и внутреннего миров, молчание — «дом», психологическое состояние в его разных проявлениях; молчание — убежище, откуда начинается интроспективная жизнь, психологическая причина непонимания, средство обеспечения, проявление самосдерживания при страдании и боли, приобретение и провозглашение идентичности или познание происхождения и национальное обращение, события, раскрываемые жизненными историями и портретностью выживших героев. Развитие национального самосознания проходит через этапы борьбы с тайнами, раскрываемыми в американской повсед- невной жизни, историей, раскрываемой документальными материалами, и отрицанием Геноцида армян. Произведение Питера Балакяна «Черный пес судьбы» отличается историко-психологической многослойностью, высоким эстетическим уровнем речи и гармоничным сочетанием факта и воображения. Оно по праву является одним из достижений литературы поиска, духовным национальным мостом между прошлым, настоящим и будущим. В мемуарах Балакяна вопросы Геноцида армян и идентичности тесно взаимосвязаны, и поиск разрешается познанием обоих — причины и следствия. This article examines the search for national identity in the memoir “The Black Dog of Destiny” by the Armenian writer Peter Balakian. The study was conducted in the following areas: the American environment and Armenian hereditary memory; at the intersection of the external and internal worlds; silence - “home”, psychological states in their various manifestations; silence - a refuge, from which the introspective life begins, a psychological cause of misunderstanding, a means of security, a manifestation of self-restraint of suffering and pain, the rediscovery and re-proclaiming of identity or the recognition of genealogy and national conversion, events revealed by the biographies and portraits of surviving heroes. The development of national selfconsciousness proceeds through the stages of the secrets revealed in American life, the history revealed by documentaries, and the struggle against the denial of the Armenian Genocide. Peter Balakian’s work “The Black Dog of Destiny” is characterized by its historical and psychological multi-layered nature, its highly refined prose, and its harmonious blend of fact and imagination. It is rightly regarded as one of the great achievements of exploratory literature, serving as a spiritual and national bridge between the past, present, and future. In Balakian’s memoir, the issues of the Armenian Genocide and identity are closely intertwined, and the quest is resolved through an understanding of both the causes and the consequences.},
