 abstract={Հոդվածում քննարկվում են 2000-ական թվականների սկզբից ԵՄ-ի քաղաքական օրակարգում Հարավային Կովկասի ձեռք բերած մեծ կարևորության ներքին և արտաքին պատճառները: Ուսումնասիրվում են նաև Հարավային Կովկասի առնչությամբ ԵՄ-ի ռազմավարական շահերի վերանայման առաջնային շարժառիթները, որոնք սկզբնական շրջանում անտեսված էին: Եվրոպական էներգետիկ անվտանգության խնդիրների ուսումնասիրության շրջանակներում քննարկվում է Հարավային Կովկասի դերը՝ որպես ԵՄ գազի ներկրման աղբյուրների և երթուղիների բազմազանեցման ռազմավարության մեջ հավանական էներգամատակարար և տարանցիկ երթուղի: Դա իրականացվել է «Հարավային գազային միջանցք» նախագծի հիման վրա: Էներգետիկ հետաքրքրություններից զատ քննարկվում են նաև ԵՄ-ի ռազմավարական հետաքրքրությունները անվտանգության, առևտրի և արդյունավետ կառավարման ոլորտներում: The article discusses the main internal and external reasons of the increased importance of the South Caucasus region in the EU’s political agenda in the early 2000s, as well as the primary motives of subsequent acknowledgment by the EU its strategic interests in the South Caucasus after the initial neglect towards the region. While examining the implications of the European energy security issues for the South Caucasus, the role of the region as a potential energy supplier and a transit route in the EU’s gas import diversification strategy will be analyzed. This will be elucidated using an example of the “Southern Gas Corridor” project. Aside from the energy interests, following the article the EU’s strategic interests in the fields of security, trade and good governance will be discussed.},
