 abstract={Статья посвящена рассмотрению средневековых представлений о депрессии, одной из крупнейших проблем современной медицины. Изучение средневековых описаний механизмов этого заболевания обнаруживает удивительное сходство не только с общими подходами современной медицины, но и с результатами новейших научных исследований, в частности с оксидативным стрессом как лабораторным маркером депрессии и рядом нейродегенеративных заболеваний. Рассмотрена непосредственная связь депрессии с различными метаболическими процессами и, в первую очередь, с питанием. С этой точки зрения внутренняя логическая структура средневековой медицины, характерные подходы, их постановка, поиск решений, выдвижение ги потез также имеют как теоретическое, так и практическое значение. Их анализ по сути открывает возможность сравнить или использовать результаты этого исследования на благо современной медицины. The article is devoted to the examination of medieval conceptions about depression, one of the greatest challenges of modern medicine. The study of medieval descriptions of the mechanisms of this disease reveals surprising similarities not only with the general approaches of modern medicine, but also with the results of the latest scientific research, particularly with oxidative stress as a laboratory marker of depression and a number of neurodegenerative diseases. The direct connection of depression with various metabolic processes, and, first of all, with nutrition, is considered. From this point of view, the internal logical structure of medieval medicine, characteristic approaches, their setting, search for solutions, putting forward presumptions also have both theoretical and practical relevance. Their analysis essentially opens up the possibility of comparing or using the results of this study for the benefit of modern medicine.},
