 abstract={Թաբասարանցիները (ինքնանվանումը՝ թաբասարանար) հնագույն ժամանակներից կենտրոնացած են Մեծ Կովկասյան լեռնաշղթայի հարավարևելյան լանջերին: Դաղստանյան այս ժողովուրդը, որի լեզուն պատկանում է իբերոկովկասյան լեզվաընտանիքի լեզգիական խմբին, «թաւասպար(ք)» ձևով հիշատակված է V դարի հայ մատենագրության մեջ՝ Մ. Խորենացու, Եղիշեի և Բուզանդի աշխատություններում: Հայկական աղբյուրների հիշատակություններին զուգահեռ՝ թաբասարանցիների անվան ուսումնասիրության համար կարևոր տեղ են զբաղեցնում միջնադարյան արաբական աղբյուրները, որոնցում նրանց երկիրը հիշատակված է Տաբարսարան, իսկ ժողովուրդը՝ ահլ տաբարսարան (Տաբարսարանի բնակիչ) կամ տաբարսարանիյա (տաբարսարանցի) ձևերով: Թաբասարանցիների պատմությամբ և նրանց անվան ծագումնաբանության հարցերով զբաղվողները, գրեթե առանց բացառության, հակված են ցեղանվան իրանական ծագման տեսակետին: Թեև նրանք ընդունում են ցեղանվան հայկական և արաբական տարբերակների նույնականությունը, բայց որպես քննության առարկա՝ դիտարկում են անվան արաբական ձևը: Սկզբնաղբյուրներում առկա տեղեկությունների համադրումն ու համեմատական քննությունը ցույց են տալիս, որ թաբասարանցիների անվան ստուգաբանության համար առաջին հերթին պետք է հաշվի առնել հայկական աղբյուրներում վկայված տարբերակը՝ թաւասպար, քանի որ դրանցում առկա տեղեկություններն ավելի վաղ են: Tabasarans (endonym – Tabasaranar) are concentrated in the southeastern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Range from ancient times. These Dagestanian people, whose language belongs to the Lezgin group of the Ibero-Caucasian language family, is mentioned in the Armenian bibliography of the V centuryin the works of M. Khorenatsi, Yeghishe and Buzand, in the form of ''t‘awaspar(k‘)''. Along with the Armenian sources, the medieval Arabic historiography plays an important role in the examination of the ethnonym of Tabasaran people, where the country of Tabasarans is mentioned as Tabarsaran and the people are called ahl ṭabarsaran (inhabitant of Tabarsaran) or al- ṭabarsaraniya (Tabarsaranian). The researchers dealing with the history and the origin of the ethnonym of Tabasaran people, almost without any exception, tend to explain their ethnonym on the basis of Iranian languages. Although they recognize the identity of the Armenian and Arabic versions of the ethnonym, they consider the Arabic form of the name as the object of study. The comparative analyses and correlation of the information available in the early sources show that for the etymology of the name of the Tabasaran people, first of all, the version attested in the Armenian sources - t‘awaspar- should be taken into account, as the information preserved in them is of earlier origin.},
