 abstract={In the present outline we first demonstrate the various manners in which the neumes associated with the odes of St. Gregory of Narek can be used to gain insights on the music associated with the notation. We employ particular examples to demonstrate how metrical structure and aspects of musical form can be exposed. Further, exploiting a special case entailing interpolations from the hymnal between ode stanzas, we explore inter-relationships between the neumes (i) on the hymnal interpolations and their counterparts in hymnal manuscripts, (ii) on different recensions of the ode, (iii) on the ode proper and the hymnal interpolations, and (iv) on extant melodies of hymns and odes. We then present an up-to-date conspectus of extant melodies, placing them in appropriate modal and geographical contexts. Seven odes are currently endowed with melodies, but as part of them have more than a single melody, the total number of distinct melodies has now been brought up to fourteen. Two were recently discovered by myself and are discussed herewith for the first time. Issues of Westernisation are also touched upon. В настоящем очерке мы впервые показываем разные способы, при помощи которых системы невм, относящиеся к одам Григора Нарекаци, помогают глубже понять музыку, связанную с нотацией. Мы приводим частные примеры с целью продемонстрировать метрическую структуру и аспекты музыкальной формы. Кроме того, исследуя особый случай интерполяций из сборника гимнов между строфами оды, мы рассматриваем взаимотношения между невмами (i) в гимнических интерполяциях и в рукописях, содержащих гимны, (ii) в различных редакциях оды, (iii) в самой оде и в интерполяциях из гимнов, (iv) в дошедших до нас мелодиях гимнов и оды. Затем мы представляем новейший обзор сохранившихся мелодий, поместив их в надлежащий ладовый и географический контекст. Семь од в настоящее время оснащены мелодиями, однако так как некоторые имеют более одной мелодии, общее число определенных мелодий в настоящее время достигает четырнадцати. Две недавно обнаружены нами и рассматриваются здесь впервые. Мы касаемся также вопросов вестернизации.},
